The University of St Andrews is excited to announce that the 2023 Sustainability Internship applications are now live! There are 14 opportunities available to work on topics such as biodiversity, active travel, the circular economy, carbon accounting, and more. These internships are fully paid and offer an excellent chance to influence sustainability from a behind-the-scenes approach at the University.

The Sustainability Interns play an integral role to the Environment Team, but also the University as a whole. They do not only provide an excellent opportunity to work in a professional environment, but the work which is produced is used in real time, and in successive projects to progress our sustainability operations.

For example, one of last year’s projects evaluated the field of vertical farming and developed a business proposal for their use within the University. This has since been taken up by the University’s RBS Catering team who have acquired an aquaponic growing cabinet to trial its use.

It is fantastic to witness these projects and their solutions come to fruition and, I hope you will join us on our journey towards a net zero and a biodiversity positive University of St Andrews.
