End of year donations: Share the love, don’t bin your stuff!
As we approach the end of another academic year, you’ll be starting to get ready to leave St Andrews. Whether this is for good or just for the summer, it’s likely you have collected some things that won’t fit in your suitcase.
St AndReuse is here to help you make sure those items find a good home and don’t end up being wasted.
This short video (1 min 30 seconds) from the Environment and Transition team highlights where to donate items you no longer need:
The St AndReuse basics
British Heart Foundation donation banks
- Donate clothes, shoes, books, stationary, bags, small electrical items, and homeware to these banks.
- See the images below to find your nearest BHF donation point. There is a bank outside of every hall of residence, Main Library, Student Association, and many more places across town.

In halls of residence
- There are boxes and big bags in the common room. Donate kitchenware (crockery, cutlery, pots, pans), bedding (duvets and pillows), books, stationery, and plants.
- Leave non-perishable food at the St Candrews food bank donation box.
- Take small electrical items to the BHF banks or your hall reception.
- Many of these items are given a second life at the Big Giveaway at the start of next term. St AndReuse also teams up with local charities that can put your items to good use in the community.
- Please organise your donations in the boxes and make sure items are clean. If you see something you like, you’re welcome to take it for yourself too. Please do not take any electrical items from the donation points in halls. We need to PAT test them for safety before giving them away again.
Outside halls of residence
- Donate your items to the St Andrews Environmental Network (StAndEn) at the EcoHub, open Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 5pm at 40 Kinnessburn Road.
- Alternatively, the St AndReuse store at the back of University Hall is open every Monday and Friday from 12pm to 1:30pm, and there is a donation box outside of the store.
Thank you for being part of our local sharing economy. Share the love, don’t bin your stuff. And don’t be confused – St AndReuse!
