Transition celebrates second successful Winter Fayre

Almost 700 colleagues, students, and local community members enjoyed Transition University of St Andrews’ annual Winter Fayre, made up of 80 stalls, skill sharers, musicians, student groups, and volunteers.
The Fayre included a room of plant-based world food, largely provided by diverse cultural student societies, which greeted everyone downstairs. Performances took place on the stage, from student acapella choir Rich Teas to a student jazz band, who serenaded the staff, students and community members who were sharing skills and advising people on ways to make their own Christmas presents and cut down on consumption.
Close to £400 was raised to fulfil festive wishes to those in need, identified by the Storehouse Foodbank and the Campus Larder, using a Wishing Tree and a Tombola.
Visitors noted the opportunity to get creative at the Fayre, saying “I had a lovely time! It was so nice to make arts and crafts as exam prep begins,” while another said “The Fayre was lovely – amazing to see so many sustainable crafts.” About the Fayre in general, another attendee said: “Wonderful! Love the tasty food and songs and every welcoming person here.”
Thank you to all who came along!
