With over 20 stationed across University sites, it is hard to miss the bright red donation banks for the British Heart Foundation.

Between 2024-2025, 5,619 bags of items (weighing just under 50 tons) were donated through these banks. This has raised £78,666 for the British Heart Foundation – almost double the amount raised last year.

The University’s partnership with the British Heart Foundation banks started in 2019. Since then, we have raised more than £350,000 for the charity, which has contributed to life-saving research.

Donations include clothes, shoes, books and small working electrical appliances. If you have unwanted items in good condition, consider dropping them off here. Your donations also help to make St Andrews a more circular economy, avoiding waste and valuing resources.

If you notice that a bank is full, please let the Environment team know ([email protected]) to arrange a collection.

Additionally, the University hosted a British Heart Foundation pop-up shop outside Main Library in September. This raised over £800 – the highest amount yet. As a cash-only event, this is even more impressive!

Thank you to all who have contributed to the British Heart Foundation.
