Transition StAndReuse hosted its annual BIG GIVE AWAY during orientation week, welcoming 1,037 students into the local sharing economy! A remarkable 2,293.93 kg of items – including bedding, clothes, kitchenware, books, storage solutions, and even golf clubs – were distributed to students, all of which would have otherwise ended up in skips.

Together, students saved a total of £31,870.20 by opting for the local sharing economy instead of buying new items in shops.

St Andrews University proudly stands out as the only university in the UK offering reuse and repair initiatives at this scale. Together, we can reduce waste and contribute to the fight against the climate crisis. The local sharing economy is for everyone!
